THE PLOT:

New remains are found in the area of Pompeii, but like none of the other victims of the volcano, this one still has his body under the rock. They learn that he's Quintillus Aurelius, a soldier forever cursed for having a forbidden love and that Tina Enright is that love.

Quintillus is still alive under the rock tomb and feels that it's still that fateful day when the volcano erupted and must rescue his lady love from the lava. No matter who he has to kill to do it.

ZEDD'S OPINION:

Some might recognize Richard Anderson of Six Million Dollar Man and Bionic Woman fame, but he does a great job in this movie. Considering the time it was made the creature effects are basic and still cool at the same time. It's amazing that you can't see the actors eyes or any place where the eyes would be. The story is also somewhat basic but works, my only complaint is they went cheap on the locations, it's clear that's the L.A. Observatory and not Italy. But that's a minor complaint compared to the whole, 8 STARS.

VOLTRON'S OPINION:

I agree about the Observatory, and the story as a whole is a tad slow at points, but very few movies of this time period wasn't slow at points, but I got to admit it kept my interest and the effects are impressive. 8 STARS as well.

ON THE POSITIVE SIDE (+ HITS):

+ STORY (A new twist on the mummy story.)
+ CAST (The cast does a great job.)
+ CREATURE EFFECTS (Considering the time, the effects are great.)
+ CHARACTERS (The characters work.)

ON THE NEGATIVE SIDE (- MISSES):

- LOCATIONS (Like nobody wouldn't recognize the L.A. Observatory)
- SLOW POINTS (But many movies of this time period had slow points.)

...AND FINALLY...

- FAN BASED (If you aren't big on the basic mummy plot, you won't like this.)
